October 2009 Little Tour

In October of this year, as if we were getting used to it, after almost exactly a year since our European tour, we decided to do another tour, but this time in our lovely República Oriental del Uruguay.
We left to Colonia from where we rehearsal -Escuela N°1- by bus, and arrived to a hotel in Santa Ana, near Río de la Plata, a beautiful and quiet place, after seven hours of trip. The hometown Chorus was waiting for us with a delicious lunch, which we receive without resistance.
Once we all were rested, a dive in the swimming pool and a little singing in some restaurants, we had a walk around the city, visiting its old streets, souvenirs shops and small clubs.
We performed on Friday, 9th on the Teatro del Bastión del Carmen, an old warehouse on the banks of Río de la Plata, (celebrating the 5th  Encuentro internacional de coros” which is organized by the Colonia´s chorous). there were also another participating chorus from Colonia beside the organizer. After the concert, we had a great party, a dinner and later a night walk for the old part of the city, which has a special charm at night.
The next morning, after breakfast we got out straight to the city of Maldonado, suffering again the growth of Santa Lucia river which didn’t allow us to pass through the city with the same name but we had the joy of going visit Sigrid’s childhood house in la Colonia Delta after a long time.
When we arrived to Maldonado we lodged in “La Casa de la Paz y la Alegría” a retirement center of the Catholic Church, the ones who went with their couple had to change partners because the rooms where for four people. We performed in La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días de Maldonado with other chorus and with a really small audience, an obvious thing because the Uruguayan football team was playing an important match for the try outs to be in the world-wide cup. Later that day after the show, we went “piqui piqui” and singing with the other chorus and we had a walk for the city to drink some wine and… keep singing.
Sunday dawned cold and wet but we went to the promenade of Maldonado anyway and embark up our way to the next show in La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen on the Aguada surbub in the city of Montevideo.
We shared the show in the church with three others chorus, which one of them was directed by our master Alejandro.
Probably, this concert was the one which had the greatest artistic level and for sure the more crowded. This tour was shorter than the European one, of course, but it also was really nice. Where we had the contest of some new chorus’s participants and we missed other lovely partners that couldn’t be there with us in that moment, and the absence of our dearly loved fiend Didier Dotta whose spirit will never leave us.
